Wildfire Mitigation Risk Management Director

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide wildfire mitigation risk management expertise to a team assessing utility wildfire mitigation plans. The position will primarily include reviewing wildfire mitigation plans and performing a risk assessment of certain aspects of the plans, including the risk models.  

Terms of Employment

This position is offered for full-time employment. FEP will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.

Qualifications

  • Experienced and knowledgeable in electric utility, operations including Transmission & Distribution functions along with Vegetation Management practices associated with wildfire risk mitigation.
  • Possess detailed practical and technical understanding of wildfire mitigation planning and have applicable experience with wildfire risk models.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills required.
  • Must be able to work in a professional environment.
  • Possess sufficient motivation to accomplish required objectives with limited supervision.
  • Team oriented.
  • Willing to travel (50% plus).
  • Significant field work (and/or oversite of field work) will be required including asset and Vegetation Management inspections.
  • Knowledge of California State and CPUC electric utility regulations are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to legally a rent a vehicle.
  • Work in the Denver, Colorado office.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field. In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to relevant experience.
  • 15+ years of experience in wildfire mitigation programs, risk management and/or other applicable utility operations programs.

Compensation Range

The estimated compensation range for this position is $200,000 to $350,000/year for a full-time, exempt position. FEP takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, as well as the employee’s work location.
